Cuando a un director de cine le preguntan sobre una forma de hacer pel\u00edculas y responde lo que le parece, es acusado de soberbio por usuarios y colegas. Todo eso pasa en twitter, donde nadie (absolutamente nadie) nos pide una opini\u00f3n acerca de nada y la damos igual.<\/p>\n<p>Las redes sociales son lugares extra\u00f1os en los que no parece existir la posibilidad de una discusi\u00f3n real; un intercambio de puntos de vistas que logre llevar el debate a otro nivel. A veces, incluso, da la sensaci\u00f3n de ser un espacio destinado a la militancia ciega de cualquier asunto en el que el cine y sus distintas formas est\u00e1n lejos de ser la excepci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfSe puede discutir constructivamente sobre algo tan subjetivo como una obra art\u00edstica en las redes sociales? \u00bfSe puede discutir constructivamente sobre algo en las redes sociales? \u00bfQu\u00e9 lugar ocupan los contenidos que consumimos en nuestra propia identidad? \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 a veces nos tomamos tan a pecho las cr\u00edticas a nuestras pel\u00edculas, series, personajes o artistas favoritos?<\/p>\n<p>*Alerta spoiler: puede ser que la tecnolog\u00eda no sea otra cosa m\u00e1s que lo que hacemos de ella, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n puede que una pel\u00edcula no sea m\u00e1s que el efecto que genera en quien la mire.<\/p>\n<p>En la previa al postergado estreno de Duna (Dune, 2021), su director Denis Villeneuve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/cultura\/cine\/2021\/09\/15\/6140b623fdddff11618b4602.html\" target=\"new_tab\" rel=\"noopener\"> dio una entrevista al peri\u00f3dico espa\u00f1ol El Mundo<\/a> la semana pasada en la que, al ser consultado sobre el panorama de la industria actual, dijo que \u201cquiz\u00e1 el problema es que estamos delante de demasiadas pel\u00edculas de Marvel, que no son m\u00e1s que un copiar y pegar de otras\u201d, y agreg\u00f3: \u201cTal vez este tipo de pel\u00edculas nos hayan convertido un poco en zombies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Por supuesto, el repudio a los dichos del director de La Llegada (Arrival, 2016), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Sicario: Tierra de Nadie (Sicario, 2015) y La Sospecha (Prisoners, 2013) no se hizo esperar. Los fan\u00e1ticos del MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) no se lo perdonaron pese a que, en la misma entrevista, Villeneuve se mostr\u00f3 entusiasmado por lo que la flamante ganadora del Oscar a Mejor Directora, Chlo\u00e9 Zhao, pod\u00eda llegar a aportar al subg\u00e9nero en la inminente Eternos (Eternals, 2021).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_video src=\u00bbhttps:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qLSCkir1x60&#8243; _builder_version=\u00bb4.10.8&#8243; _module_preset=\u00bbdefault\u00bb module_alignment=\u00bbcenter\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00bb{}\u00bb][\/et_pb_video][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u00bb4.10.8&#8243; text_text_color=\u00bb#000000&#8243; text_font_size=\u00bb17px\u00bb text_line_height=\u00bb1.5em\u00bb custom_margin=\u00bb2%|0%|2%|0%|true|true\u00bb text_font_size_tablet=\u00bb17px\u00bb text_font_size_phone=\u00bb16px\u00bb text_font_size_last_edited=\u00bbon|phone\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00bb{}\u00bb]<\/p>\n<p>Tampoco se hicieron esperar los comentarios de algunos colegas que se sintieron ofendidos por estas declaraciones. \u201cCualquiera que critique las pel\u00edculas de Marvel por considerar que todas son iguales a) no las ha visto todas y, por lo tanto, no deber\u00eda asumir que son todas iguales, o b) las ha visto todas porque, bueno, en realidad les gusta bastante ver pel\u00edculas de Marvel\u201d, escribi\u00f3 en twitter Scott Derrickson, director de Doctor Strange: Hechicero Supremo (Doctor Strange, 2016) a modo de respuesta a Villeneuve.<\/p>\n<p>No es la primera vez que Derrickson responde a las cr\u00edticas negativas al MCU de parte de grandes nombres de la industria. En 2019, el director de cl\u00e1sicos como Taxi Driver (1976) y Buenos Muchachos (Goodfellas, 1990) Martin Scorsese, dijo que las pel\u00edculas de Marvel \u201cno son cine\u201d y que se parecen m\u00e1s a un \u201cparque de diversiones\u201d. En aquel momento, Derrickson se sinti\u00f3 tocado y sali\u00f3 al cruce: \u201cComo director, no me burlo del trabajo de otros directores, incluso cuando no me gusta algo que han hecho. Este trabajo es bastante dif\u00edcil para todos y nadie se propone hacer una mala pel\u00edcula\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ante la gran repercusi\u00f3n que tuvieron sus declaraciones, Scorsese escribi\u00f3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/es\/2019\/11\/11\/espanol\/opinion\/martin-scorsese-marvel.html\" target=\"new_tab\" rel=\"noopener\">una extensa nota de opini\u00f3n para el New York Times<\/a> titulada \u201cA qu\u00e9 me refiero con que las pel\u00edculas de Marvel no son cine\u201d, donde expresa que, a pesar de reconocer elementos que definen al cine en las pel\u00edculas de superh\u00e9roes, lo que \u00e9l no encuentra en ellas es \u201crebeld\u00eda, misterio o peligro emocional genuino\u201d y que no toman \u201cning\u00fan tipo de riesgo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La pol\u00e9mica no qued\u00f3 ah\u00ed. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/joshuahorowitz\/status\/1422940005895393289?lang=es\" target=\"new_tab\" rel=\"noopener\"> En una entrevista para el podcast Happy Sad Confused<\/a> por el estreno de El Escuadr\u00f3n Suicida (The Suicide Squad, 2021), el director James Gunn dijo que le parec\u00eda \u201cterriblemente c\u00ednico\u201d que Scorsese siga \u201cenfrent\u00e1ndose a Marvel para obtener prensa para su pel\u00edcula\u201d. Hay ejemplos de sobra y est\u00e1n a la vista.<\/p>\n<p>En medio de la irrupci\u00f3n de las plataformas digitales y los medios alternativos que comenzaron a emerger de las profundidades de Internet para traer los estrenos de la gran pantalla casi en simult\u00e1neo, la industria encontr\u00f3 en este tipo de propuestas una forma para sobrevivir a su contexto: apuntar todos los reflectores al cine evento para que el gran p\u00fablico revalorice la experiencia en las salas y ese mismo efecto haga eco en taquilla.<\/p>\n<p>Una consecuencia directa de este modelo de negocio adoptado por Hollywood fue que todo proyecto de mediano presupuesto se volcara cada vez m\u00e1s al streaming, al igual que la mayor\u00eda de los productos que no tuvieran una proyecci\u00f3n de franquicia. De repente, las plataformas de video on demand no eran escenario exclusivo para la sobrepoblaci\u00f3n de series que se avecinaba.<\/p>\n<p>Hoy en d\u00eda, el negocio del cine no pasa \u00fanicamente por la recaudaci\u00f3n de una pel\u00edcula en venta de entradas. La propiedad intelectual y la franquicia pasaron a tener un rol destacado por las posibilidades que brindan de expandir el negocio a otros rubros y elaborar campa\u00f1as de marketing desde distintos lugares.<\/p>\n<p>En base a este contexto, y retomando el primer acto de esta columna, lo planteado por Villeneuve d\u00edas atr\u00e1s est\u00e1 lejos de intentar subestimar o menospreciar a las superproducciones a las que \u00e9l mismo dedica su carrera.
